Mari 6 released

  Foundry announced the release of Mari 6. New features include: USD export support for Arnold and Renderman shaders to enables users to export one USD look file containing all the relevant shader information needed for a look development-ready asset. The ability to use Mari’s selection tools to assign materials to the correct USD face set-based location. Artists can use Mari’s intuitive selection group tools to assign materials to specific areas of their model and ensure these remain correctly assigned within the exported USD look. A new painting mode that allows users to paint a tileable image and follow the curves and direction of the brush stroke. It enables artists to create seams, stitches, and decals on characters. Support for Python snippets as Shelf Items meaning artists no longer need to to install Python Scripts into the Scripts path before launching Mari.   Autodesk has announced the release of Maya 2023.3. New features and improvements include: In the Proximity Wrap tool, a new Transform As Deformation option specifies whether the transform of the driver is used for deformation or whether it is kept separate. The Driver Cluster Matrix attribute can also be used to better preserve rotation and scaling. New options for left-drag behaviour when working with keyframes.  Options in the Hypershade work area allow the user to set default grid visibility, grid snapping, display modes, and swatch sizing. Updates to the Autodesk Translation Framework to allow users to transfer data and files within projects with support for Catia V5-6R2022 and Alias 2023 models. Blender 3.4 released

The Blender Foundation has announced the release of Blender 3.4. Headline features of this release include the addition of Intel’s Open Path Guiding Library, adding support for path guiding in CPU in Cycles; auto-masking tools in Sculpt/Paint mode accessible from the 3D Viewport; several updates to the UV editor in addition to new operators to align UV rotation, randomise islands, support for non-uniform grids, and more; an overlay in the 3D Viewport when using Geometry Nodes, making it easy to debug and test parts of a node tree; new Geometry Nodes that can retrieve mesh and curve data, sample UV surfaces and more.  Other improvements include a new Grease Pencil outline modifier and better Fill tool, support for PBR extensions in .mtl files, animation editors improvements, major performance speed-ups, and much more. 3ds Max 2023.3 released

  Autodesk has announced the release of 3ds Max 2023.3. New features include: Significantly improved performance for polygon mesh to triangle conversion operations.
